The 5th Annual Remission Rocks raises money to support Bosom Buddies, a local organization that has been the lifeline for women with breast cancer for 27 years. Bosom Buddies provides women of the greater Jacksonville area with hope, support and education through direct services, free of charge, that address their breast health and educational needs. This vital program promotes routine breast health care, education and support to breast cancer survivors and heightens the awareness of women at high risk.
The event will include live entertainment from No Known Cure, a physician band, as well as Dance Express. Last year hundreds of people crowded the dance floor and enjoyed the festivities well into the evening. A silent auction and tshirt sales are also available as another way to increase the funds for Bosom Buddies. Last year proceeds were approximately $20,000. The goal is to surpass that this year since Bosom Buddies’ funding has been cut from other sources.
Breast cancer survivors as well as those currently battling the disease will be in attendance and consent to interviews. Bobbi deCordova Hanks, founder of Bosom Buddies and multiple cancer survivor will host the bands and will also be available to discuss the plight of women in Jacksonville needing breast health services.
