Summer begins in just a few days—temperatures are rising, and the sun is getting stronger! Make sure you’re adequately protecting your skin from UV damage as you enjoy the outdoors by using as many of the following options as possible:
Shade: stay under an umbrella, a tree, or some sort of shelter if you’re going to be out in the sun for a long time
Clothing: tightly knitted long sleeves and pants offer the best protection in terms of what you can wear
Hats: a wide-brim hat that covers your neck and shoulders offers the most protection. Use sunscreen on your ears and neck if you’re wearing a baseball cap.
Sunglasses: protect your eyes and the surrounding delicate skin from UV damage
Sunscreen: choose a broad-spectrum option of SPF 15 or higher and remember to reapply often, especially if you’ve been swimming or sweating.
If you’ll be traveling this summer, the CDC provides a number of resources you can explore to help keep you and your family safe.
