A study in Norway recently found that exercise done later in life may help people to live longer. Researchers studied nearly 6,000 Norwegian men over 40 years to track their exercise habits. They found that 30 minutes of moderate exercise activity six days a week was associated with 40 percent lower risk of death. Furthermore, about 51 percent of men in the study who identified as sedentary died in their 70s from any cause, while only 25 percent of moderately to vigorously active men died in their 70s. Physical activity can greatly benefit the lifespan at any age, and adding exercise to one’s routine can provide many health benefits.
